A Meeting of the Minds: Computational Social Science
Date: May 15th, 2012 (Tuesday)
Time: 10:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Venue: USC Law Faculty Lounge (Room 433)
Overview:
Communication is essential to the study of any social activity. Computational approaches
to the study of communication in social interaction seem to offer new vistas for
the acquisition and analysis of vast ranges of multimodal communication data—speech,
text, gesture, graphic and diagrammatic presentation, narrations, music, sound—from
many different communities. This workshop assesses strategies and tactics for the
development of a computational social science of communication, with special emphasis
on the computational methods being developed at USC and UCLA.
